Mini Symposium
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the International Exchange Workshop, we asked the
representatives from France, Mexico, Austria, and Czech Republic to share the activities of their art
museums with the audience. Through hearing the distinct qualities of each museum, we here at the
Hamada Childrenf s Museum of Art would like to grow and move forwards with supporting and molding
more programs for children in the future.
The question of ghow we can encourage the growth of a childf s creativityh and gthe importance of
discovering new ways to look at t hings,h gworking hard to preserve and promot e the growth of
childrenf s perspectives, and other key concepts that should be important within the daily lives of
children were incorporated into the activities that took place over the duration of the workshop.
We believe museums should have a mindset of being a place where mutual exchange brings children,
art, and regions together.
We carry out everyday activities while aiming to create a living environment with art and stimulate
childrenf s minds. Participating in this international workshop performed by experts of childrenf s art
and learning unique activities from the artists was a special and eye-opening experience for us. This
was also true for the children. From utilizing new materials and art skills for the first time to meeting
non-Japanese speaking instructors from overseas, each experience was a stimulating one. We
believe that accumulating exciting experiences motivates children. We are truly grateful to the
representatives, the Japanese artists and all the people who supported us to make this event
successful. We hope to continue the activities to enrich childrenf s minds. We would appreciate and
hope for your continued cooperation.
